Energy Bucket

Now this is one bright idea! Stefano Merlo is the brilliant Italian designer behind this cool illuminated bucket. It collects light via photovoltaic panels during the day and gives back at sundown in the form of a radioactive-looking bucket. It is not clear whether Merlo has any intention to create more of these light buckets but I really hope they do! Will be perfect to jazz up a garden or outdoor party, don't you think?

Lindsey Adams Adelman

I really think these glass chandeliers by lindsey adelman are so amazing! Lindsey had been in the lighting design industry for 10 years, but it was when she became pregnant in 2003 that her personal approach and interest with lighting became clear. Before that, she had felt that she was losing touch with the reason why she came into design: the feeling of making things with her own hands and having the freedom to evolve designs. Today, the majority of her work is made in close collaboration with the client's ideas and desires. This process allows Lindsey to constantly explore and show clients the most recent research and sketch models. It also allows her to be constantly challenged and sustain a fresh interest in her work. Lindsey also creates art with hair. Yes, HAIR! (see below)

Glasklasen

Glasklasen (the Glass Cluster) is a chandelier and repository for drinking-glasses with stems by Swedish design company Form Nasielsky. With a clear bulb, Glasklasen will provide a pleasant lighting and will be a gorgeous centrepiece above a dining table. The reflections from the glasses also creates lights and patterns on surrounding surfaces in the room. Available at Style Nordic.

Niche Modern

Check out these stunningly clean and simple lantern-like designs by husband-and-wife team Jeremy Pyles and Mary Welch of Niche Modern! The organic designs take their inspiration from forms and materials that exist in nature. Available in several gorgeous colours ranging from warm ambers to saturated reds and blues, these lighting designs have become one of America's hottest and most sought-after by homes and commercial establishments.

Bella Modern Pendant Light, the sleeker, little sister of the Bell Jar pendant. Ideal for intimate spaces.
Aurora Modern Pendant Light. Aurora is a word for the phenomenon seen in the northern and southern skies when charged particles perform a dance of light as they enter the earth's magnetic field.

Design*Sponge did a podcast with Niche Modern back in 2006. Click here to learn more about the humble and inspiring story behind Niche. You may have to wait a while for the audio to load but it is worth it!

A Vera Wang-esque chandelier

There is something about this chandelier that I really love but cannot pinpoint exactly what at the moment. Think it is the combination of the colour and simple form that draws me to it. Very Vera Wang-esque. From oly.

Nicolette Brunklaus

I have always had a soft spot for subversive designs that challenge the norm. Like these lighting designs by dutch designer Nicolette Brunklaus. A painted chandelier and an inverted lampshade. Nice!
